Amazon gives you a hidden search terms field (backend keywords) that customers never see. Most sellers either ignore it or fill it incorrectly.
The Rules
- 250 bytes total (not characters; special characters use more bytes)
- Do not repeat words already in your title or bullet points
- Do not use competitor brand names
- Separate words with spaces, not commas or semicolons
- Do not repeat words (Amazon indexes each word once)
What to Include
- Common misspellings of your product
- Synonyms not in your visible listing
- Related terms customers might search
- Long-tail variations
- Spanish or other language translations if relevant
Common Mistakes
Using commas wastes bytes. Repeating words from your title wastes space. Using competitor names violates policy and risks account issues. Exceeding 250 bytes means Amazon may ignore the entire field.
