The Amazon Vine Programme: Is It Worth the Cost?

Amazon Vine can kickstart reviews on new products. Here is how it works and whether it is worth it.

The Amazon Vine programme provides free products to trusted reviewers in exchange for honest reviews. It can be a powerful launch tool, but it comes with costs and risks.

How Vine Works

You enrol a product and provide free units. Amazon sends them to Vine Voices (trusted reviewers) who must leave a review within 30 days. Reviews are marked as Vine reviews.

The Costs

  • Enrolment fee per parent ASIN
  • Cost of the free products
  • FBA fees for shipping to reviewers

When Vine Works Best

Vine is most effective for new product launches where you need initial reviews to drive conversion. It is less useful for established products that already have review velocity.

The Risk

Vine reviewers are honest. If your product has quality issues, you will get negative reviews that you cannot remove. Only enrol products you are confident in.
