E-Commerce Peak Season Planning: Q4 Success Guide

Q4 is make or break for many e-commerce businesses. How to prepare for the busiest quarter.

For many e-commerce businesses, Q4 (October to December) generates 30 to 50 percent of annual revenue. Preparation starts months in advance.

Inventory (August to September)

  • Review last year Q4 sales data
  • Order stock early as suppliers and shipping routes get congested
  • Ship FBA inventory by early October (receiving delays are common)

Listings (September to October)

  • Update keywords to include seasonal terms (gift, Christmas, stocking filler)
  • Create gift-targeted A Plus Content
  • Refresh product images if needed

Advertising (October Onwards)

  • Budget for 2x to 3x normal PPC spend
  • CPCs increase in Q4 so bid accordingly
  • Create seasonal Sponsored Brands campaigns
  • Prepare for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals

Customer Service

Response times and order volumes spike. Prepare templates for common Q4 queries (delivery dates, gift wrapping, returns after Christmas).
