On Amazon, customers can't touch, hold, or try your product. Your images have to do all of that work. Photography is the single biggest conversion lever on your listing.
The Seven-Image Strategy
- Main image (Hero): Product on pure white background. Clean, well-lit, filling 85%+ of the frame. This is what shows in search results.
- Lifestyle image: Product in use by a real person in a real setting. Shows scale and context.
- Features infographic: The product with callout arrows highlighting key features and benefits.
- Size/dimensions: Show exact dimensions or the product next to a common object for scale.
- What's in the box: Everything the customer receives, laid out neatly.
- Close-up detail: Show quality, texture, or unique design elements.
- Social proof/lifestyle: A second lifestyle shot or an image featuring review quotes and ratings.
DIY vs Professional
For main images, professional photography is usually worth the investment (£20–50 per image). For infographics and lifestyle shots, tools like Canva and AI background removers can produce excellent results.
Video
Amazon now supports video on product listings. A 30–60 second product demo video increases conversion significantly. It doesn't need to be Hollywood quality — a clear demonstration on a phone camera is enough.
